FLOURISHING TOGETHER'24

At Catalyst for Harmony, we believe in the power of the Gospel to unite and transform. In partnership with Hope United, the Flourishing Together Pastor Cohort is a dedicated journey for pastors and church leaders, aimed at cultivating racial harmony and fostering a thriving church community. Through this one-year cohort, leaders will be equipped with the tools and insights needed to navigate complex cultural challenges and guide their congregations toward a deeper understanding of justice, mercy, and humility.

Who will lead the way?

We seek pastors and churches who long for an enhanced experience of racial harmony and unity in the
Body of Christ in the Twin Cities. The tools learned and practiced through the cohort will equip you to
disciple your congregation through our increasingly polarized communities. The relationships and
partnerships formed will strengthen your connection with other followers of Jesus and help us shine
better as the Body of Christ. Will you consider being among those who forge pioneering paths of
discipleship for other churches to follow? We believe there is great hope for the churches of the Twin
Cities to Flourish Together.

Twin Cities Racial Harmony

Jesus modeled what it was like to love others in the complexities of life by journeying with close friends and loving beyond socially constructed barriers, caring for people experiencing poverty, and eating and drinking with those considered of ill repute, as well as with community leaders. Jesus’ ability to guide all toward flourishing by loving them with grace and truth was imitated by the early church loving across cultural and socio-economic differences, which led to communal thriving and growth. There’s an opportunity for churches to relearn those models and better imitate Jesus again.

Flourishing Together is a cross-racial, cross-church, and cross-community cohort designed to encourage and connect leaders while enhancing their capacities to disciple congregants toward oneness in Christ amid increasingly polarizing influences. Pastor Andy Gray, founder and Executive Director of Catalyst for Harmony, and Rev. Richard Coleman, Executive Director of Hope United CDC, are teaming together to lead the cohort. Both are long-tenured pastors and have been engaged in unifying efforts in the Twin Cities for decades.

What does the cohort consist of:
Our Flourishing Together Pastor Cohort offers a comprehensive and immersive experience designed to equip pastors and church leaders for impactful ministry. The program includes monthly evening gatherings featuring dinner, the "First Things for Flourishing" curriculum (designed by Fuller Seminary), insightful discussions, input from local voices, and fellowship opportunities. Participants will also engage in a Cultural Agility Workshop in November 2024, aimed at enhancing their ability to navigate and embrace diverse cultural contexts within their ministries.

In February 2025, the cohort will embark on the Sankofa Journey to Harmony Pilgrimage—a 5-day immersive discipleship journey through key sites of the Civil Rights Movement in the South, offering a profound exploration of justice, history, and faith. The program culminates with a Racial Harmony Workshop in May 2025, providing practical tools and strategies for fostering racial harmony within their congregations.
